Payment Rails Inside Kazakhstan, Compared by Speed and Cost
Four domestic routes, what each costs, and which one a business should default to for which kind of payment.

Domestic payments here run on several rails with different characteristics. Choosing deliberately saves more than negotiating fees.
Instant transfers between individuals
Fast, cheap or free within limits, and widely used. Designed for person to person rather than for commercial flow.
Businesses using it for customer payments are outside its intended use, which shows up as monitoring attention rather than as a technical limit.
Interbank transfers
The standard commercial rail. Settles within defined windows during the working day, with a cut-off after which it becomes a next-day payment.
Predictable and documented, which is what makes it the default for anything that needs a record.
Card payments
Instant, universally accepted, and the most expensive per transaction once the acquiring cost is counted.
The cost is justified by conversion rather than by speed for most merchants.
Crypto settlement
Minutes, low transfer cost, and a conversion at each end. For domestic payments between parties who both use the banking system, it adds steps rather than removing them.
Its advantage is cross-border, not domestic. A business using it domestically is usually solving a different problem, often access.
The comparison that matters for a business
| Rail | Speed | Cost | Record quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instant P2P | Seconds | Low | Weak for commercial use |
| Interbank | Hours | Low | Strong |
| Card | Seconds | High | Strong |
| Crypto | Minutes | Low plus conversion | Depends on venue |
The last column is the one businesses underweight.
Where record quality decides it
Any payment that will be questioned later. An interbank transfer with a reference is self-documenting; a chain of informal transfers is not.
Where crypto earns its place
Cross-border payments, counterparties without local banking access, and flows where the alternative is a correspondent chain costing considerably more.
For those, the question becomes which venue. Exchanges that keep records a bank will accept produce the documentation the domestic rails produce automatically.
The default worth setting
Interbank for domestic commercial payments, crypto for cross-border where the counterparty is set up for it, and a regulated counterparty for the conversion. Collect & Exchange, which operates under a licence, issues the statement that makes the crypto leg look like the others in your records.
